        TUM STUDENTS RIOTS by Denis Mutua Students from Technical university of Mombasa have engaged police in running battles after rioting in the institution protesting introduction and implementation of the new policies by the administration. The students started by gathering at the institution's graduation square where the students leaders addressed them before pouring into the streets chanting names of the school registrar academic affairs mr Njihia. Students attribute the problems they are having to the registrar whom they say has been running the activities of the school without minding the affairs of the students. Students are have been proken by the recent policies where students with pending academic issues are not allowed to proceed to the next academic year but instead,they are issued with a "repeat stay out"(RSO)notice.This means that one has to spend one academic year before settling the pending issues and later being re-admitted.     A STUDENT EMBARK ON HELPING STREET BOYS Find Moses Mutuma a first year student at Mount Kenya University Nkubu campus who has started an initiative to help street boys in Meru town. Moses popularly known as mose and who is pursuing diploma in procurement  says he started the program in January this year after seeing the number of street boys in Meru town shooting up, and therefore decided to engage them when he is not in class. `I meets them three times a week around Tuskys supermarket in Meru town, where I does counseling to them since many are into drugs and then advice those below ten years to enroll to school which is difficult since I have no resources to fund their enrollment”, narrates Mose.However,he says he do not have a registered number of them and therefore works with only who are able to cooperate. 2019 POPULATION &HOUSING  CENSUS KICKS OFF. National census has already kicked off country wide with the pre-listing happening on 22rd and 23rd August ahead of the actual exercise set to take place on the night of 24/25th August.The exercise will further extend to 31st of August 2019. This will be eighth national census exercise to be conducted in Kenya.The first census to be conducted was back in the year 1948,followed by others in 1962,1969,1979,1989,1999 and 2009.Since 1969 to date, Kenya has undertaken censuses after every 10 year perid.
