    SOCIAL MEDIA TURNED INTO A DEN OF SCAMMERS

Online International Companies agents in social media especially in Facebook have become rampant. In almost all Facebook groups, one won’t scroll for five posts without noticing a post announcing for an online business slot for a `few available people’. Whether the people behind these posts are genuine or not, it remains a matter to find out.
County News correspondent came across a university lady who had an unpleasant memorable encounter with these online company agents. Pauline which is not her real name, explains how she came across a post in a Facebook group that read, ``Stop wasting data on Facebook but instead use it to earn up to Ksh 5000 in a day, if interested reply how’’.Eager to know how one could make such an amount of money by just using a phone, she got into a serious conversation on what’s app after being provided with an account to use.
Pauline did not know that she was just engaging to a scammer in the skin of an online agent. She tells how her inviter started orienting her on how she could join other youths who were already making money and living lives of their dreams courtesy of the company we cannot reveal here. `She explained to me that one was expected to remit a total of Ksh 23000 as the starting amount, and from there one is good to go where in two weeks’ time I would have fully recovered my money,’ Says Pauline. Since she had just received HELB money alongside some pocket money from her parents, she comfortably sent the full amount blindly.

The biggest motivation behind her sending the money according to her is some testimonials her inviter was sending her through what’s app.``my inviter would send me Mpesa confirmation messages from who she told me were people working in the company that made me even more curious, ’alludes Pauline. `Apart from these Mpesa confirmation messages, she would also send me photos of the company members before and after joining the company, with these I felt that is the place I needed to be to make it in life, ’she adds.
However, the sweet deal between her and the agent went south the moment she pressed the send button and the money was sent to the agent. To what came as a surprise to Pauline, after sending the money, the communication between her and the agent went off. She was blocked in all the social media platforms they had been communicating and also the calls went unanswered before going off. At this point Pauline says she just found herself sending tears but she had nothing to do but accept that she had fallen prey to the conmen and life had to move on.
This is not the only case as she revealed that she know of others who went through the same ordeal as hers and ended up losing the money. Pauline therefore cautions her fellow youths especially students to be extra careful with these scammers posing in social media as online company agents.

A MAN COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER MURDERING HIS WIFE A Man in Kitale Tranzoia county has committed suicide by hanging himself,moments after murdering his wife.
