COMMOTION ERUPTS AT KONGOWEA MARKET MOMBASA AFTER MIRAA COURIERS DELAYS.

COMMOTION ERUPT IN KONGOWEA MARKET MOMBASA FOLLOWING DELAY OF MIRAA COURIERS IN THE MARKET
There was a commotion at Kongowea whole sale market Mombasa following a delay by the Miraa and Muguka  lorries to get into the market on time as ussual.
In normal circumstances, the stimulant couriers makes their way into the market as early as 8.ooam but they delayed up to around 10.oopm due to what the drivers said was  caused by traffic congestion on the way.

This delay led to the long awaiting traders to move from the picking point to the main gate to wait for the scarce commodity, thus causing serious congestion at the market entrance .Also, other vehicles leading into the market had hard time to navigate through the crowded path way leading into the market.
It took the intervention of police officers who lobbed teargas at the rowdy traders in an attepmt to ease the human congestion and to pave way for other motorists and cats to get into the busy market.Traders who spoke said that when Miraa fail to get into the market on time, they at times incur losses since it is a highly perishable commodity and thus it may easily wither.'We incur big losses when this commodity fails to reach us on time since it is a perishable thing and thus it is best needed when still fresh,'one trader said.
Further, the wholesalers who are usually based in the market hinted that their potential customers to who they retail the commodity to are available in the early morning hours since many comes from as far as South Coast.Meaning such an instance inconveniences their business operation.
Miraa and Muguka is in high demand in coastal areas especially Mombasa county being chewed mostly by youths. There in the recent past has been a debate by some of the coast leaders to completely eliminate miraa in the region, citing crimes and luxity resulting from the stimulant usage.
